Hello 8th Grade Families,

Today I chose to discuss the travesty that occurred on Friday 11/13. I showed the 8th graders an article that was geared towards middle school students. As a class, we had an excellent discussed regarding faith, choices, and reflection. We talked about the actual event and why the locations may have been chosen. This conversation stemmed out to cover other examples of hate throughout history and what can be done to prevent it. The conversation ended with the understanding that one can not blame an entire religion based on the faults of a select few. We came to the understanding that people can not be lumped into the same group. I also made it very clear that even though the 8th graders are the oldest in the school and soon to be freshman they should not look up things online by themselves. I explained that just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true and they should be looking with an adult. Curiosity is a wonderful thing, but I do not want any student to come across the wrong information.
