Hello 8th Grade Families,

Today we read part of Chapter 6 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. While we were reading we discussed how you can not judge a book by its cover and applied that to the Johnny, Ponyboy, Dally, and the greasers in general. We also came across the part where Johnny and Ponyboy are looking at the sunrise. During this part Ponyboy recites a poem by Robert Frost entitled Nothing Gold Can Stay. As a class (both groups) we analyzed what it was saying. We came to the conclusion that it represents life from beginning until end, and nothing can stay forever.

Best,
Mrs. Baier
