Hello 8th Grade Families,

Today I had the 8th grade for Music and ELA. For music we watched a documentary entitled, The Lady in Number 6. This beautifully inspiring documentary was all about a woman named Alice Herz Sommer who survived the concentration camp due to music. Her spirit (at 109 years old) was so moving and inspiring. We were able to discuss the virtues that she possessed that helped her survive. We were able to compare her outlook to that of Elie Wiesel. We discussed that their point of view may be different because Alice was optimist to begin with and was able to still play her music because she put in a camp where they did put on concerts and filmed propaganda to show how "well" the Jewish people were being treated.
During ELA we read more from Night and discussed the harsh realities that Elie Wiesel is facing.

Best,
Mrs. Baier
